Meet Britains Gift wrapping Expert Jane Means
Jane has always loved adventure and creation and after working in the travel business and working as a florist, she started her company in 1995 with a small budget and a mind full of creative ideas. Her early days were spent making bespoke cards and wedding stationery which became very successful. She was commissioned by the Crown Estates of Somerset to make a card for the Queen (which later went on display in Buckingham Palace Mews) and was a regular supplier to Harvey Nichols. By the late nineties Jane realised her true passion was gift wrapping and after doing her teaching training, decided to start gift wrapping courses in her parents Lincolnshire watermill.
The hobby has now turned in to a full time business with clients travelling worldwide to attend her workshops throughout the UK.
Known as the ‘Gift Wrap Guru' her portfolio includes services for Harrods, House of Fraser, Lakeland, The Queen Elizabeth Foundation, Meadowhall, W.H.Smith, O2, Philips, Marks & Spencer, American Express, Crabtree and Evelyn, NSPCC and Claridges to name a few.
Other than the Gift Wrapping School, Jane Means has also provided a luxury gift wrapping service for Selfridges, Banana Republic, Blackwell Books, Covent Garden Piazza, The White Company, H+M, St. Pancras and Country Living. She has worked for a well known French Fashion house in Europe, wrapped a gift for the Queen and personally gift wrapped for various celebrities (She won't disclose names!). She now has an elite team of Gift Wrappers based throughout the country
Jane travels nationwide running private courses in ones home and workplace, in addition to her own workshops based around the UK. She is now a popular demonstrator to clubs, galleries and at national charity events, exhibitions and trade events.
She has been featured in many glossy magazines and national newspapers. Her Couture Wrapping Shop in Covent Garden was voted 'Shop of the Week' by the Times, and her Easter Egg wreath won the House Beautiful Editors' Choice.
Jane has judged the 'Gift Wrapper of the Year' final live on This Morning and The Richard and Judy show as well as appearing on various BBC and ITV programmes including GMTV. She currently does a regular radio slot for BBC Lincolnshire reviewing the morning newspapers and discussing current affairs, as well as being a guest on other radio stations
Jane Means has a dedicated team and now designs her own ribbon collections and decorations, which are featured regularily in the press and are sold online and wholesale.
